Decorating for the holidays around our house means getting the Paper Whites in water to bloom just in time for Christmas Day. Not only are Paper Whites easy to grow, but the fragrance will leave your home feeling like springtime.
Keep in mind that Paper Whites will grow quite tall so you will want to place bulbs in vases that can support them once they bloom. To mix it up, choose different style vases and place in areas around the house such as bathrooms or hallways. The other added benefit is you can forgo the scented candles especially if you have little ones around and are concerned about fire hazards.
Here are a few tips to get you going:
Tall Glass Vases
1 dozen Paper White Bulbs
Pea Gravel, Stones or Marbles
To plant bulbs; place stones in bottom of vase. These will help to support the roots once they sprout. Place as many bulbs as will fit on top of the stones, making sure to place the flat part of the bulb downward and the pointy side up. Pour enough water to come up the just below the tip of the bulb. Place in area desire and in a few days watch what happens.
Tip – As bulbs grow, be sure to maintain water level in the vase.
