The holidays can be stressful on the wallet but it does not have to be. Growing up with a grandmother who knew how to make merry with little taught me the value of know-how in the kitchen.
One of the things I love about Christmas is the time I get to spend in my kitchen baking and cooking up all kinds of deliciousness to share with family and friends. From my African pudding (which is really a very moist cake) to brownies and of course thumbprint cookies and pecan bars, gifts from my kitchen makes gift giving a real ho, ho, ho! And if you are like many who simply do not have the time, you are going to love my recipe for lavender cranberry sauce.
This sauce is not only a feast for the eyes, but the taste is amazing. And the thing I love about this gift is I get to use some of the lavender from my garden dried at the end of the season.
Your friends and family are going to love this!
Ingredients
3 cups fresh cranberries
1 cup organic sugar
1 cup water
1/4 teaspoon rose water (you can find this at specialty food stores)
1/4 teaspoon crushed lavender blossoms
Canning jars
Instructions
In a small sauce pot add water and sugar. Stir. Bring to a slow boil and add cranberries. Reduce heat and simmer to reduce liquid and thicken. Be sure to keep a close eye on the pot as the cranberries will boil over. Add rosewater and lavender and stir. Pour cranberries into sterilized canning jars and seal. Turn upside down to cool.
Because life should be good. How good is that…..
