I love apple picking season! The fall air just seems to give a hug and a reminder that it’s about that time for family and friends to gather around the table to celebrate the goodness of home. I also love recipes that take advantage of the season without having to spend hours in the kitchen; unless that is what you want to do.
My recipe for Rich Apple Crisp is one that I especially love because it is simple, delicious and leaves you time to do what the holidays are all about; spending time with family.
Because life should be good. How good is that…
Ingredients
6 Granny Smith Apples, peeled, cored and sliced
1 cup old-fashioned oats
1 cup all purpose flour
1 cup brown sugar
4 ounces Cold Unsalted Butter
1 teaspoon Ground Cardamon
2 teaspoons Ground Cinnamon
2-3 Tablespoons Orange Juice
Instructions
Butter a 9X14 baking dish and add apples. Drizzle with orange juice. Add flour, oats, cinnamon, brown sugar to a bowl and toss. Cut butter into chunks and add to flour mixture. Using your fingers, blend butter into flour mixture until well blended. Sprinkle mixture over top of apples. Bake for 40- minutes or until apples begin to bubble. Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
