Room To Grow

June 9, 2020

Each year I find myself looking for ways to expand my growing space, not because I need to grow more food, but rather because I wish to expand my variety of things to grow. Trying to figure out what not to grow is like trying to figure out which kid not to take with you to the movies. Oh, wait, can we still do that? As someone who loves to grow good food, the answer is simple, you grow it all.

And so, to solve this dilemma, this year I decided to grow upward. By this I mean using things like trellis or training vining vegetables to grow along garden fences; thereby providing additional room to grow. I have always used obelisks for my peas and beans and a trellis on which to grow grapes. This year I decided to go even farther and pulled out my stakes and garden jute and constructed trellises throughout the garden for my squash, cucumbers and melon. What I also love is the wonderful artistic element it has added to the garden.

This is going to be a good growing season and I cannot wait for the bounty. To join the conversation and learn more about how you can create and expand your growing space, hit me up. Come on, you got this.

Because life should be good. How good is that…
