This is my life! A farm girl living in the city!
Someone once said, you can take the girl out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the girl!
I grew up in a small country town in Central Florida, in a very close-knit neighborhood called Tucker Hill. You know, the kind of neighborhood where everyone claimed everyone as a relative, even if you were not blood-related. And although it has been decades since I left Tucker Hill, my love for living simply with a sense of community has been ever-present; no matter where I have lived.
When my husband and I purchased our current “farm in the city” homestead nearly two decades ago, it was always with the idea of creating a haven for our family with all the elements of simple, country living; in the midst of the hurried lives being played out all around us. Having an abundance of fresh vegetables and herbs for my home-cooked meals and beds of beautiful flower gardens surrounding my home, has through the years been an integral part of who I am.
A gem of a house with good bones and expansive grounds to plant flowers and grow all the foods we love to eat, this special place has been the inspiration for all that I have been able to create and share as a part of my “good living” brand for nearly two decades.
This amazing journey has afforded me the pleasure of launching an online lifestyle magazine, become a nationally recognized lifestyle contributor for both radio and television, write a syndicated lifestyle column for a newspaper syndicate, become a lifestyle editor of a national print magazine, own an award-winning restaurant and bakery, but most importantly, it has provided me with the distinct honor of getting to know you.
This next chapter is an exciting one for me as my long-anticipated cookbook series will be published and I will finally get to share hundreds of delectable recipes created over the years in my kitchen. I will also share ideas on how to grow foods for your own garden, no matter where you live.
Bonnie McDaniel Recipes for Good Living online magazine has since been transformed into this, my blog, in order to have a more intimate connection with you and to share elements of our daily farm life in the city, with the hope of inspiring you to live a good life too.
I can’t wait to be connected with you both here, on social media and on my Youtube channel. To kick things off, please enjoy just a few of my most popular recipes that were published over the years through my online magazine. And remember to stop in often as I share more good food, gardening muses and my farm life in the city. And to make sure you never miss a post, sign up here!
I am so happy you are here!
Because life should be good! How good is that…..
