From the editor...

Wow! What a difference a decade can make in the growing of a magazine. It was over ten years ago that I had this “crazy” idea to launch a free magazine using the power of the internet. The problem over ten years ago was people did not readily buy into the idea and corporations thought it would never work. So here we are many years later and internet magazines are all the rave. I guess one could say, I was a bit ahead of my time.

What an amazing opportunity it is to be not too early or too late, but rather, on time, for the next generation of informative and leading-edge magazines.

While waiting I am pleased to say that there was not a moment wasted as I have been a chef, innkeeper, restaurateur, magazine editor and had a few other interesting assignments that have prepared me completely for this endeavor. The one thing about a vision is that although time changes, the vision itself remains the same. What I have discovered too is that very often when one has a vision, the most challenging thing is knowing when the vision is complete. It was my idea at that time to be a voice, resource and advocate for families; not just where I live but in your neighborhood as well. I am pleased to say that that has not changed.

The original magazine was called The Art of Good Living which accurately described what I knew the vision of the magazine to be at that time, over ten years ago. Since then the vision has become clearer, hence the renaming of the magazine to Recipes for Good Living Magazine. It is my belief that very much like a “good” recipe, today’s families are in a desperate search for ideas and solutions that match where they are and the times in which we live. Raising a family today is more challenging than when my children were younger and yet somehow I believe that the opportunities have never been greater to do it well.

Keep in mind that although I am a steward of the magazine, I want it to be all about you. In that vein, I need your help in order to make the information we share meaningful to you and your family. Please share with us the challenges as well as the joys that you are experiencing and then allow us to guide you or share your stories with others. In other words we welcome contributions from all you budding writers out there. Simply email them to me here at the magazine and we will take it from there. We will publish, with your permission, those articles that lend itself to the vision of the magazine.

This is going to be an awesome journey because you made the choice to join us. The magazine will be published monthly, on the 15th of each month, with articles that touch all aspects of your life. And for your enjoyment, and what we hope will be a valuable resource in the kitchen, be sure to tune in to the Its Thyme TV section of the magazine.

And remember, if you like what you see, share it with everyone you know. If you don’t like it, please share it with us. I am so glad you are here and can’t wait to see where this will lead us. Until next time, eat, live, be well and THRIVE!
