Know Your Ingredients and Tools
Springtime is here! And that means the bounty of fresh-from-the-garden salad greens and herbs are just beginning to make their way onto the table. One of the nice things too is if you have been following our Garden Plot section, a fresh salad is just a few steps away from your very own kitchen. If you are ahead, you have perhaps already discovered the undeniable flavors of freshly-picked salad greens and herbs versus those you normally purchase from the market. And if you have, you also know that the last thing you want to do is to cover these incredible flavors with an over-abundance of heavy salad dressings.
This month’s ingredients and tools will highlight different ingredients you can use to create your own flavorful salad dressings. Keep in mind too that the idea of a salad dressing is to accent, rather than cover the flavors of your freshly picked greens.
You will need only a couple of tools and to restock your cupboard with a few key ingredients. And the good news is, not only will your taste buds be awakened with a wonderful gastronomical experience, but your waistline will benefit too. And remember, experimenting is not only allowed, but highly encouraged.
