Thank You!
Two simple words, but very often in the middle of looking to the next horizon, we forget to savor the scenery that is right before our eyes.
In a world that is filled with attitudes of needing and wanting more, it is easy to dismiss the numerous blessings that come and gently rest on our shoulders each day. So often we forget the little things because we are distracted by great things that command our attention.
As a mom, I remember those moments over the years when I felt as though I was being taken for granted. Each day I did the same things to make certain my family had clean clothes, a clean house, a good healthy meal on the table each night and after a while, thank you became absent as a part of our daily conversation. After a while I realized that it was not so much that my family was unaware of what I did, but rather that they somehow thought it was no longer important to acknowledge it. The problem with not being acknowledged is the person who is being ignored, at least in their minds, lose their value.
The Thanksgiving holiday season is a great time to reflect on the many blessings that are given to us each day; both the big and the small. Because of so much uncertainty about where we are as a nation and a world, it is very important that we remember the great gifts that are intrinsic to who we are as members of a family, community and a world. We may not have all the things we wish for, but we have more than enough of the things that we could ever hope for. Things like, laughter, love, respect, freedom; and the list goes on.
The funny thing about times such as these is that you come to understand that it is in lacking that we are forced to find our true value and worth. In the absence of material distractions, our only recourse is to reach where our deepest treasures have resided all along; deep within ourselves and in those we are blessed to know and love.
Thank you! My words of gratitude to you and all that you do the lift and support the vision of this magazine. From the editors of Recipes for Good Living Magazine, we wish you the love of family and friends and a healthy, safe Thanksgiving!
Deigratia,
