Choosing the Right Gym or Fitness Facility For You
Darryl McDaniel, Jr., Fitness Marketing Associate
With the holidays and New Year rapidly approaching, many gym memberships will find their way under the tree given as gifts.
Many recipients of these memberships will see this as a great opportunity to start on their New Year’s resolutions early.
Before you sign on the dotted line however, there are 5 tips you might want to consider when choosing a gym that’s right for you.
- Location. How far the gym is located in relationship to your work or where you live is crucial. It will determine whether or not it is convenient for your schedule and may affect your motivation level when it comes time to workout.
- Price — self-explanatory. End of year deals or plenty. Don’t be afraid to negotiate and haggle with the sales person in order to get the best deal.
- Friendliness of the staff. Are you greeted or buzzed in and ignored.
- Condition of locker rooms. Cleanliness, water pressure and an abundant amount of bathing materials is important.
- Age of equipment. Old equipment is not only an eyesore but it is also very dangerous. When touring the facility, stop, look around and don’t be afraid to ask questions.
Have a great workout!
