Cutting Boards and Food Prep Services

When you think about cooking, one of the first images that come to mind when you think of food preparation is all the cutting and chopping that takes place during the process. And a great part of pulling all of your wonderful ingredients together into a magnificent culinary creation, is having the proper canvass on which to assemble and prepare your ingredients.

Cutting surfaces come in a wide variety of materials and what you choose is based upon how simple or complex you choose to make your cooking experience. Other determining factors include style, size and budget. Whatever your requirements, you are certain to find the right surface to fit your needs.

This month’s ingredients and tools will feature the different kinds of cutting boards or surfaces available for use in today’s kitchens. Following is a list of the most common cutting surfaces:

Plastic
Concrete
Butcher Block
Bamboo
Marble
Glass
Vinyl
Ceramic
Polypropylene

Remember to always clean your cutting surfaces thoroughly after use and be careful to not cross-contaminate by using your surfaces to cut multiple items. In other words vegetables and meats should have their own separate boards. Meats should also be cut on separate and clean boards; do not cut beef and chicken or pork and fish on the same surface.

So, chop away!
