COOKING SCHOOL
This month's word is "nurture". I was not quite sure of the definition so I looked it up. To my surprise it is both a noun and a verb. Basically it means to teach, educate, influence behavior and habit, etc. I am daily nurtured by my parents and teachers. Food supplies us with nourishment.
This month I made a video at one of my favorite stores, Central Market, to shop for organic and unusual fruits and vegetables. This week, they were celebrating "French Passport Week" focusing on French foods, wines and French entertainment: CanCan Girls, Stilt Walkers and Acrobats. It's so much fun, every visit is an adventure, and and you get to sample foods while you shop.
Central Market offers almost every vegetable in multiple colors. Here are just a few examples.
Carrots - orange - white - burgundy - black
Potatoes - red - white - blue and about 10 other varieties
Cauliflower - white - orange - green
Radish - pink - red - white
Asparagus - white - green
Eggplant - purple - white
