The Wine House of Fairfax

Just off Rt. 66, approximately 2 miles from the Beltway along Rt. 123 south is one of Washington DC’s best kept secrets. Located in the lovely downtown village of Fairfax City, The Wine House is definitely worth the trip from wherever you might be traveling. Started as a wine shop to feature all kinds of wines from around the world, initially tiny bites were offered to customers in an effort to teach the delicate art of wine parings. And as fate would have it, the foods were so amazing that customers convinced the owner to expand the business to what is now a very charming bistro and retail wine shop.

Designed very much like what you would see in the SoHo section of Manhattan in New York City, the ambience of The Wine House sweeps you away to another place.

With a menu that ranges from very simple soups and delectable appetizers to entrees that include items like duck confit (my personal favorite), seared scallops or a mouth-watering chicken with imported mushrooms, you are sure to find something to please you.

Each of the wait staff are very skilled with wine pairings so be sure to ask for their recommendations when ordering your meal.
