Books for Dads
Last month, in honor of Mother’s Day, I shared my favorite books for helping me, as a mom, get back into the groove of my creativity and inspiration.
This month, in honor of Dads and Father’s Day, I thought I’d share a few books for Dads. These are all books that are on my list for the three important Dads in my life (my husband, my father, and my father-in-law). These are especially great for the hard-to-buy-for Dad!
Enjoy!
- The Council of Dads: My Daughters, My Illness, and The Men Who Could be Me, by Bruce Feiler. This is a beautiful book written by a Dad of 2 young girls after he was diagnosed with cancer, and wondered what his girls’ lives would be like if he died. He gathered 6 men, from all the passages of his own life and asked them to be present in the passages of his daughters’ lives. The result is a beautiful, inspirational book that really gets you thinking. (And the good news is that he is still alive!)
- Chicken Soup for The Soul Series: Thanks Dad — 101 Stories of Gratitude, Love and Good Times by Jack Canfield, Mark Victor Hansen, Wendy Walker and Scott Hamilton. This touching, inspiring and heartwarming books is perfect for any father in your life, as it contains stories about Dads, Stepfathers, and Grandfathers. There is truly something for everyone in this lovely book!
- The Amazing Dad: More Than 400 Ways to Wow The Kids, by Giovanni Livera. Do you know a Dad who secretly wants to be a superhero? Who wants to impress his kids with cool tricks and awesome FUN? This book offers tons of exciting ideas for the Dad who’s always up for adenture, tricks and surprises! And the author even suggests that Dads keep the book secret from the kids and never reveal the source of his superpowers!
- And for the Dad who LOVES gadgets and new inventions and cool stuff (ok, most men I know are like this) comes this witty and fun book: ManVentions: From Cruise Control to Cordless Drills — Inventions Men Can’t Live Without, by Bobby Mercer. Need I say more?
